Martyrdom of Imam Ali al-Rida (as)

Imam Ali al-Ridha, the Eighth Imam, was born in 148 Hijri in Madina and succeeded his father Imam Musa al-Kazim at age 35 in 183 Hijri. Amid Abbasid persecution, he was summoned by Caliph Mamun to Merv in 200 Hijri, appointed heir-apparent to gain Persian support, and led a simple, pious life while establishing Majalis for Karbala commemorations. He died in Tus in 203 Hijri, poisoned by Mamun's orders, and was buried there.

Arba'een Imam al-Hussain (as)

The Day of Arbaeen, marking 40 days after Ashura and the martyrdom of Hussain ibn Ali in the Battle of Karbala, commemorates his stand for social justice against corrupt ruler Yazid.
