Birth of al-Abbas (as)

Al-Abbas, born on 4th Shaban AH 26 to Umm-ul-Banin, was the first child celebrated by Imam Ali with Islamic newborn ceremonies including azan, iqama, hair shaving, alms, and sacrifice. Named al-Abbas (meaning courageous lion) and nicknamed Abu’l-Fadhl (father of virtue), he received protective verses from his mother. Imam Ali predicted his future martyrdom. Birth of Imam Ali Zayn al-Abidin (as)

Imam Zayn al-‘Abidin, born in 38 A.H. possibly in Kufa, was named by Prophet Muhammad as ‘Ali b. al-Husayn, surnamed Zayn al-‘Abidin, foretold ten years prior. His birth rites included azan, iqama, and aqiqa. Nicknames like Sayyid al-‘Abidin, al-Sajjad, and Dhu’ al-Thafanat reflect his piety and worship. His mother died in childbirth; a nursemaid raised him. He was thin, weak, solemn, with a ring inscribed “My success is not but by Allah.”
